We all have past traumas that need to be healed.  It’s a natural part of life. Some people blame their current situation on past traumas. Some people never have lasting relationships due to past trauma. Some people blow up at those they love because of triggers associated with past trauma. In order to become the person you were always meant to be – you must face those past traumas and overcome them. This is FAR easier said than done.

Step one, is realizing the issue. Knowing that your behavior is unacceptable and having a desire to change must occur before you can get beyond that which you fear.

Once you have gotten past that most difficult step, the next step is to begin healing. Some traumas are so deeply rooted that it is nearly impossible to even open that door, they are locked behind, a tiny crack. One way of beginning the healing process is with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping.

“EFT tapping is a mind-body method of tapping acupuncture points (acupoints) on the hands, face, and body with your fingertips while focusing on an issue or feeling you’re hoping to resolve. This method may reduce stress and anxiety, improve performance, lessen cravings, and help resolve fears.”

As a part of acupressure / acupuncture, EFT tapping is used to aid people in resolving trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and stress by tapping certain parts of the body repeatedly while focusing on what is causing the stress or anxiety.

How does it work? While thinking about the trauma, tap 5 – 7 times gently on 9 meridian points of the body. By focusing on the pain or trauma while tapping on the meridian points, it allows you to accept the pain and let it go. Start by tapping your hand at the meridian point and repeat an affirmation – something like – “this will no longer damage my relationships.  I can overcome.” Move to the next meridian point and repeat the process until you have completed your rotation. You are not limited to how many times you tap or for how long. If you feel the need to tap longer, then do so. This is done at your speed.
