Ingredients

  • 4 cups shelled walnuts ground
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon ground
  • ½ tsp cloves ground
  • 8 ounces butter melted
  • 8-12 ounces honey melted
  • 1 pkg phyllo thawed

Instructions

  • Grease a 9-1/2 x 7" roasting or cake pan. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, mix the walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.
  • Remove one package of phyllo from the container and cut it in half. Cover with a lightly dampened towel to keep the phyllo moist. When you have used all the phyllo from that package, do the same for the second package.

Layering: Create 4 layers

  • Lay a sheet of phyllo in the greased pan, it should fit closely to the measurements of the pan. Trim as desired. Using a pastry brush, coat with a thin layer of butter. Repeat until you have five sheets all buttered.
  • Add 1/3 of the nut mixture evenly over the phyllo being careful not to pull at it.
  • Repeat this process for the other layers ending with five sheets of buttered phyllo.
  • Bake at 425 for 7 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F and cool for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat the honey until it is fully melted being careful not to boil.
  • when the baklava is done, remove from oven and carefully cut into diamonds or any other shape desired. Drizzle with honey. Let cool completely before serving.
  • Enjoy!
